Are You Living an Abundant Life?

January 7, 2019

Good morning my friends and fellow sisters and brothers in Christ! I stand before you on this Marvelously magnificent miraculous Monday proclaiming that my life is abundant. That is not to say that I am wealthy in financial ways, but more to say that my cup overflows in all ways needed.

When people initially meet me, the first thing that surprises them is the amount of children I have. Next they often ask how on earth I am able to do so much with such a load on my plate. I confess, "I am able to do all I do because of the grace of God. Those who know him, will often give me a smile and agree that having a relationship with the LORD is ineed a game changer. However, what catches me by surprise is how many who know Him are still filled with anxiety and worry. Those two things strip one of an abundant life.

It may sound so basic, but it is a Scriptural promise; an explanation of one major reason Jesus came into the world and it has to do with the here and now. When you turn to John 10:10, we discover this news:

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. (NASB)

Now some think abundance means that they will somehow be blessed with a ton of money. Abundance does not speak solely to financial wealth, it speaks to joy, and peace, and rest. When you live life trusting God, you will indeed be living abundantly!

Many struggle with the trust factor where God is concerned. I know this for I had the same hang-up for the majority of my life. What I can tell you is this:

  1. We are all born with a measure of faith. (Romans 12:3)
  2. Faith increases with the reading of His word and in getting to know Him. (Romans 10:14-17)
  3. The more time you spend seeking, the greater your faith will grow for your eyes will be opened up to the hand of God in motion.
My first go to verse when I began seeking came from one of the books of wisdom in the Bible:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5, NASB).

To this day, there are things that I don't understand when it comes to the ways of God, but I have come to learn to trust His wisdom over mine for I have also been shown over the course of time just how His way of doing things did indeed make way more sense than anything I could have come up with.

When you come to trust God to this point, there is nothing that can cause you worry. Not even being homeless with 6 children under your care. I know that this is the case, because I have lived under these circumstances.

In reflection, even when I did not have faith in God, He was faithful to me. You can see this truth play out in reading my life story. If you aren't living an abundant life today. If you are experiencing worry, anxiety, depression, self-loathing, lack of hope, I pray you find a path to God. I invite you to read my own journey. I have after all, worn a ton of various shoes, and my story is full of crazy, get out of here moments.

So I leave you today with this question? Are you ready to begin living abundantly? If the answer is yes, than begin making advancements toward that goal today. I challenge you to a 30 day commitment.

For starters, follow along with the renaming of days:

Along with this, I encourage you to subscribe to my blog and come back each day to read either a current or a past post.

Renewing your mind also includes changing the music you are listening to. K-love (101.7 or 101.9), Moody Radio, (97.9) are two excellent stations to plug into. K-love is mostly music, while Moody offers both music and excellent teaching.

When you make the commitment to change these few things, I promise you will begin to experience more moments of hope, peace and joy. Life is brutal, why wouldn't you armor yourself with anything and everything that offers a positive improvement.

Father, today I pray that you lift up those who are hurting. May they find a path to you. I would be blessed to be a part of that path and you know my desire is to help free those who are currently enslaved, however I will be thrilled to simply pray for those and know that you are working in their lives. This is not about me, it is about You and how You deliver freedom to those who seek you with pure hearts. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Wendy, mom of many, girl who walks with God.
